Friends of Jazz at UCLA

logo, branding, print materials and website

In 1937, two UCLA undergraduates invited Duke Ellington to perform at Royce Hall. He played a legendary four hour set.

From these beginnings, a rich history of jazz at UCLA was born. The Friends of Jazz at UCLA was later established to support jazz at UCLA by hosting concerts and fundraisers. I designed their logo, marketing materials, and website.

This logo reflected history by combining a Duke Ellington portrtait with art deco? fonts, while the black and white kept it looking crisp and modern.
